something new, breaking out, breaking free of constraints from repetition, muscle memory, but not the good kind, the opposite of carpal tunnel syndrome, instead of pain you get pleasure, from the same thing, the comfort zone, keeping with what works, keeping the list, the establishment, the set of friends, the restaurants, the tv shows and actors, books and novels, routes home, and then trying something new, and maybe, if you're lucky, finding something good, something better, something that bumps something else off the list, but then there's the somethings that don't even make the list, and then it was giving up something on the list for something that doesn't go on the list. one in the hand vs. two in the bush. seriously? seriously. fits and starts, bits and burps, stutters, out of the gate, and then dies a short death, no funeral, no fanfare, just gone.
